Meet an ultra-trail legend
At over 50 years old, Ludovic Pommeret continues to push the limits and remains one of the biggest names in the world of ultra-trail running. Winner of the UTMB®, Diagonale des Fous, TDS® and now a three-time winner of the legendary Hardrock 100, the Savoy-born athlete will be at Le Corbier on Friday, 7 August 2026 for a special day dedicated to trail running and the mountains.

Born in July 1975 in Valloire, Ludovic Pommeret has always shared a deep connection with the mountains. Yet nothing seemed to predestine him to become one of France’s leading ultra-trail runners.
A computer engineer by training, he spent many years balancing a demanding career in Swiss air traffic control with competing at the highest level of trail running. This dual life makes his story all the more remarkable: that of an athlete who built his success patiently, consistently and over time.
His trail-running journey began in 2000. Year after year, the kilometres accumulated and so did the results. In 2009, he notably finished 3rd in the CCC® and runner-up at the Diagonale des Fous. In 2015, he competed in his first World Championships before experiencing one of the defining moments of his career the following year.
An outstanding record
In 2016, Ludovic Pommeret won the UTMB®, one of the most prestigious races in the trail-running world. It was a landmark victory, rewarding years of dedication and hard work.
His career, however, has also included moments of doubt. In 2018, he even considered retiring from competition. Instead, he chose to continue and gradually added new milestones to his impressive achievements: victory at the Diagonale des Fous in 2021, the TDS® in 2022, before taking on a new challenge in the United States.
In 2024, just a few days before his 49th birthday, Ludovic Pommeret lined up for his very first Hardrock 100 in Colorado. This legendary race covers nearly 160 kilometres with more than 10,000 metres of elevation gain, all at high altitude.
On his debut, he did far more than win: he set a new course record in 21 hours and 33 minutes, breaking the previous record held by Kilian Jornet.
His American adventure didn’t stop there. He claimed victory again in 2025, before completing an extraordinary hat-trick in July 2026, winning the Hardrock 100 for the third consecutive year and lowering the course record once again.
Just weeks before turning 51, Ludovic Pommeret proved once again that experience, self-knowledge and passion can keep an athlete performing at the very highest level.
Behind the scenes of an extraordinary achievement
This remarkable adventure on the trails of Colorado is the focus of the documentary “The American Dream”, directed by Matthieu Couet and Edouard Gohin.
The film retraces the challenge Ludovic Pommeret set himself in 2024. After dreaming for more than ten years of taking part in the Hardrock 100, he finally secured a place on the starting line with one clear goal: to win the race.
Over the course of 40 minutes, the documentary takes viewers behind the scenes of this legendary event, following Ludovic as he competes against some of the sport’s greatest names, including François D’Haene, Courtney Dauwalter and Zach Miller.
More than a film about performance, “The American Dream” tells the story of a dream built over many years and highlights the determination and perseverance that define Ludovic Pommeret’s career.
