Get properly equipped

Ski like a pro

Dress in layers to stay warm

Mountain weather can change quickly, so it’s important to dress appropriately. Our top tip? Wear several layers so you can easily adapt to changing temperatures while staying comfortable.

Start with thermal base layers to wick away moisture, add an insulating layer such as a fleece or lightweight down jacket, then finish with a waterproof and breathable ski jacket.

Not sure what you need? Our sports shops will be happy to help you choose the right equipment!

Warm up – the key to a great day

How to warm up and prevent injuries

Before heading onto the slopes, take a few minutes to stretch and warm up your muscles. A proper warm-up helps reduce the risk of injury and makes your skiing day much more enjoyable.

Stay hydrated and fuel your body

Skiing can be physically demanding, so remember to drink plenty of water and eat nutritious food to keep your energy levels high throughout the day.

Take a lesson!

Adapt your skiing to your ability

Whether you’re a beginner, returning to skiing after a break or simply looking to improve your technique, we highly recommend taking a lesson with an ESF instructor or one of our independent ski instructors.

They’ll teach you the fundamentals, share their passion for skiing and help you develop the right habits to stay safe while making the most of your time on the slopes.

Choose slopes that match your ability

To enjoy your skiing day to the fullest, it’s important to choose runs that suit your ability.

Skiing on slopes that match your level helps you build confidence and improve at your own pace. Le Corbier offers a wide variety of runs, clearly identified by colour (green, blue, red and black), making it easy to find the right terrain for every skier.

If you’re a beginner or returning to skiing, start with the easier runs and gradually move on to more challenging slopes as your confidence grows.

Prepare for mountain conditions

Check the weather forecast

Before heading to the slopes, it’s essential to check the mountain weather forecast. Conditions at altitude can change quickly, with temperature variations, strong winds, fog or snowfall affecting both visibility and snow quality.

At Le Corbier, checking the day’s forecast allows you to adapt your equipment, choose the most suitable routes and plan the best time for your outing.

A little preparation goes a long way towards skiing safely, avoiding difficult conditions and making the most of your day on the slopes.

Adapt to snow and visibility conditions

Snow and visibility have a major impact on your skiing experience.

Depending on the weather and the number of skiers, the snow may be hard in the morning, softer in the afternoon or even icy, requiring you to adjust both your technique and your speed.

In foggy conditions or during a whiteout, it’s best to stay on well-marked slopes and ski more slowly to maintain maximum control.
